Commemorating International Day of People with Disabilities

On December 3rd Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine commemorated International Day of People with Disabilities (IDPD).  The school’s DisAbled Students Association (DASA), Bowdoin’s Accessibility Taskforce and Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) collaborated together for the event. The special event provided students with information with regards to the challenges disabled students face.  One of the organizers said, “So I’m disabled, I use a wheelchair. I have cerebral palsy. And I went to DASA because it, at least last year, was a really nice supportive group for me to go to and just talk to other students about our disabilities and how we’ve dealt with the struggles that we experienced on campus.”

It is exciting to see college campuses advocating for students with disabilities.  To learn more about this event please visit The Bowdoin Orient page.
