According to the Making a Difference Magazine, during Georgia’s 2020 legislative session, the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities (GCDD) introduced a legislative agenda that focused on “disability in all policy.” The idea for this type of legislative agenda is to ensure that people with disabilities and their families are considered in all areas of legislation. For Georgia’s 2021 legislative session, advocacy groups plan to focus on three key priority areas- 1.) Access to home and community-based (HCBS) Medicaid waivers, 2.) Support inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) programs, 3.) Expand competitive, integrated employment. These are three areas advocates for people with disabilities plan to support during this year’s legislative session.
