This week-long event, which includes the fall break, offers a variety of activities designed to help students manage stress, access mental health resources, and foster a supportive community.

Salukis Care Week, which began on October 14th, features several themed days, each with its own set of activities. The week is centered around the theme "Salukis Sustaining Soundness," emphasizing the importance of maintaining mental and emotional health.

Snack & Chat with CAPS: October 14th

The week started with a Snack & Chat event hosted by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). This session, titled "Mindfulness Mentality," provided students with an opportunity to de-stress and engage in mindfulness activities. The event took place in the Student Health Center Auditorium from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., setting a positive tone for the week ahead.

Turnt Tuesday: October 15th

On Tuesday, the focus shifted to the Student Recreation Center, where various physical activities were organized to help students release tension and boost their mood. The schedule included:

  • 7:00 a.m - Strength & Cardio HIIT: A high-intensity interval training session to kick-start the day.
  • 8:45 a.m - Yin Yoga: A calming and relaxing yoga session to promote flexibility and balance.
  • 9:15 a.m - Core Power Yoga: A dynamic yoga class focusing on core strength and inner energy.
  • 12:00 p.m - Zumba Toning: A fun and energetic dance workout to keep spirits high.
  • 5:15 p.m - Cycle 45: A quick, high-energy cycling session to burn calories and boost endorphins.
  • 6:15 p.m - Resistance Training 101: An introductory session on resistance training to help students understand the basics of strength building.
  • 7:30 p.m - Boxing: A challenging boxing session to release pent-up energy and improve cardiovascular health.

Additionally, a yoga session with snacks was held on Morris Library's Lawn from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., providing students with another opportunity to unwind and socialize.

Wellness Wednesday: October 16th

On Wednesday, students were encouraged to explore creative outlets for stress relief. The event "Broken Pottery" was held at HEROES Headquarters, Student Center, Basement Level, where participants could smash pottery and create unique artwork. This activity allowed students to express their emotions and take home a personalized piece of art.

Salukis Care Day: The Grand Finale

The highlight of Salukis Care Week is Salukis Care Day, which takes place on October 17th at Faner Plaza. The event is designed to be an all-encompassing experience with something for everyone:

  • Food: Free pizza and subs from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., along with popcorn, snow cones, and ice cream.
  • Water Dogs: Activities and games that promote hydration and fun.
  • Inflatables: Bouncy castles and other inflatable games to keep students entertained.
  • Giveaways: Various giveaways throughout the day to show appreciation for the students.

Additionally, a rock-climbing wall, Chalk Fest, and other interactive activities will be available. Students can also participate in Smash Your Stress, breaking glass to create individual artwork, and make DIY affirmation bracelets to wear all year long. The event also includes a college dreams photo booth and a dream wall where students can add their academic, professional, and personal goals.
